Willowbank

This design for Willowbank will incorporate nods to its heritage, reusing existing materials from demolition to create a sustainable design. Highlighting eco-friendly materials, the design incorporates elements of biophillia and is designed for disassembly. The design aims to preserve many of the existing materials such as wooden panels/planks, decorative tiles, colours inspirations and books. The materials are each selected for their sustainability and durability considerations, making selections that will last. The building will support education with learning spaces and a library in addition to a public cafe and a museum featuring local artists. Each space is welcoming and accessible, featuring modular and ergonomic seating for occupants. The curvilinear design draws people in and encourages them to stay, supporting the historic site and community space. This rejuvenation will honour the existing heritage of the Laura Secord School while creating a modern experience for occupants.
